Stone is Now Complete...

This past weekend was a milestone.  The stone was finally installed.  The installer was able to complete the project in three days.  The cabinets will be installed next with the floor and trim to follow.  This is the beginning of the Ohio gun week so not much will get done.

Great Weekend of Hunting

While the deer camp build is still an ongoing process, hunting is now the priority of every weekend. This past weekend was the middle of the rut here in Monroe County, Ohio. We seen several cruising bucks with my buddy being able to
harvest his best buck yet. We were able to capture some pictures of ones that were not ready for harvest. Hopefully the coming weeks will bring us similar success.

The Little Things

I'm back to the inside projects.  I installed most of the ceilings in the cabin now using the same material throughout.  My wife painted the rooms and ceiling fans followed.  We managed to find a fireplace mantel that worked with all of the wood ceiling and I temporarily mounted it for now until the stone on the fireplace goes up.  That will happen in the next couple of weeks.

Kitchen Appliances

This project has always been done on weekends and with that comes the ever-changing priorities.  Sometimes you pick the next project and sometimes the projects pick you.  I constantly move from one thing to another based on the availability of free help, supplies, design decisions, weather, time and motivation.  Since the lawn is in now, landscaping will wait till spring.

I moved back into inside projects and prepared for hunting.  Since the cabin is completely off grid and my family, friends and I were tired of eating out of coolers we decided to purchase the appliances.  To this point, all cooking has been done on the outdoor grill.  Don't get me wrong, the deer camp cook (JP) is a master chef on that thing but its just nice to put a pizza in the oven every once in a while.

My family and I went down to Lehmans  to purchase a propane refridgerator.  It works the same as an RV fridge, just on a larger scale and was already set up for propane.  I purchased the stove at Lowes and it came with the propane conversion kit which I switched over. I ran the gas lines to the appliances and for now this is our make-shift kitchen.

Preparing for Winter

With winter coming it was time to finish the outside activities until spring.  The grass was planted to try and keep the mud to a minimum and a final dressing of gravel was put in.
